On Thursday 22 September 2011, The Ritz-Carlton Moscow hosted the culminating event of the project, the Awards Gala Ceremony itself. Over 200 guests, with prominent tourism industry experts, celebrities and journalist among them, attended the event to find out who and what — according to the Russian voting public — are the best in the world of travel and tourism.

My Planet Travel Awards was established by Eventica Communications in association with TV channel «Moya Planeta», and with support of nationwide Russian TV group VGTRK, to celebrate the achievements of hospitality professionals in meeting the needs and desires of Russian tourists.

In total over 120,000 votes were cast by the public across Russia and the CIS.
